School of Medicine students benefit from training in a variety of clinical sites around the San Diego region which represent the diverse population.

  • Jacobs Medical Center

    Jacobs Medical Center

    Jacobs Medical Center at UC San Diego Health is a 364-bed advanced medical center that is home to inpatient care, surgical facilities, outpatient clinics, a blood bank and a pharmacy. It is connected to Perlman Medical Offices and includes Thornton Pavilion, an inpatient facility formerly known as Thornton Hospital. It is within walking distance of Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center, Shiley Eye Institute and Moores Cancer Center.
  • UC San Diego Medical Center

    UC San Diego Medical Center

    UC San Diego Medical Center, in Hillcrest, is the first of two primary hospitals for the University of California San Diego School of Medicine. It is a 390-bed patient facility and home of the region's first Level 1 Trauma Center. The region's first academic medical center offers both primary care and specialized services, including surgery, diagnosis and management of genetic disease, neurology, orthopedics and oncology.
  • VA San Diego Healthcare Center

    VA San Diego Healthcare Center

    The VA San Diego Healthcare System is adjacent to the La Jolla campus and has 296 authorized beds, including skilled nursing beds. The Healthcare System is a teaching hospital that provides a full range of health services for veterans, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research. The Healthcare System is primarily affiliated with the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine.
  • Rady Children's Hospital - San Diego

    Rady Children's Hospital - San Diego

    Situated centrally between the UC San Diego Medical Center and the main campus in La Jolla, Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego is a nonprofit, 511-bed pediatric-care facility dedicated to excellence in care, research and teaching. It is the only hospital in the San Diego area dedicated exclusively to pediatric health care and the region’s only designated pediatric trauma center.
  • Naval Medical Center San Diego

    Naval Medical Center San Diego

    The Naval Regional Medical Center (also referred to as Bob Wilson Naval Hospital or as "Balboa Hospital") has 272 beds and 18 operating rooms, and is the major Naval Medical Center for the Southwestern United States and the Pacific theater. It is the largest and most comprehensive military healthcare system in the Western United States.
